While the enormous wealth and variety of cultural options that Malaga can point to in its bid to become European Capital of Culture for 2016 is undoubtedly significant, we must not forget that the city has for many years now been the Capital of the Costa del Sol – in other words, the Tourist Capital of one of the most important areas in Europe. Clearly, the requirements of a tourist zone are not limited to sunshine and beaches alone; a full range of complementary facilities to cater for leisure and entertainment are also necessary, and it is this combination of features that makes this area a privileged destination and one that is of immense tourist interest. As far as leisure and entertainment are concerned, Malaga and the rest of the Costa del Sol boast the widest choice of complementary facilities for all seasons to be found anywhere in Southern Europe. Our extensive network of parks and leisure centres caters for all tastes and ages. We have pleasure parks, animal parks, tourist cruises, botanical gardens, dolphinariums, aquariums, and, in general, a spectrum of options far too broad to mention here, ranging from the world’s only Wolf Park to the fantastic new Palace of Magic, hot air balloon trips, parachute jumps, go-kart tracks, a racecourse and equestrian events, to name but a few, facilities that are sure to delight even the most demanding of visitors. And when it comes to nocturnal pursuits, the visitor’s choice ranges from sophisticated venues playing all the latest music to pleasant disco bars and terraces which, combined with a climate that is benevolent all year round, make this area a privileged location and the perfect complement for all who visit Malaga when the city is European Capital of Culture in 2016. |
