Malaga entertainment

Malaga is the Costa del Sol’s main urban centre and can be considered a party town. There are several entertainment options in town, from the ubiquitous tapas bars scattered throughout the city to the themed bars, alternative pubs and Latin clubs of the inner-city streets. Malagans party at all hours virtually every night of the week and the year-round tourist industry means that visitors in the winter months will not feel isolated.

There are several popular areas to party in Malaga city, where residents and tourists alike spend most nights of the week, mainly from Thursday to Sunday, making merry. Merced Square in the heart of the city is a popular hangout, where people consume alcohol bought from nearby shops and engage in chit-chat before going to the city’s bars and clubs later on. Other areas include Calle Larios, which is the main street in Malaga, near the port; the many tascas, bars and clubs of Calle Larios, Calle Granada and La Posada on Calle Granada 33 are very popular.

Theatre and music

With regards to theatre life in Malaga, the main venue is the Teatro Cervantes on Ramos Marin. This simple 19th century theatre was restored and reopened in 1987 and features many Spanish plays, flamenco entertainment and numerous concerts from between September and June as well as hosting Malaga Symphony Orchestra nights in the wintertime.
